For the fifth year running Hager Sharp has supported media relations and outreach efforts for release of the National Center for Education Statistics Condition of Education report. The Condition of Education is a congressionally mandated report that provides an annual statistical portrait of education in the United States and covers all aspects of education, from student achievement to school environment, and all levels from early childhood through postsecondary education.

Hager Sharp Helps Deliver Important Health Messages to Moms with a History of Gestational Diabetes
Gestational diabetes mellitus is a type of diabetes that occurs during pregnancy and affects about 7 percent of all US pregnancies – or about 200,000 pregnancies each year. Women who have had gestational diabetes are at increased risk for developing diabetes in the future, and their child is also at increased risk for obesity and type 2 diabetes. With support from Hager Sharp, the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) and the Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) have teamed up to remind women about these increased risks and to promote the steps they can take to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.

May 20, 2010 - The results from The Nation’s Report Card: Reading 2009 were released on May 20, wrapping up months of work by the education team at Hager Sharp. The Nation’s Report Card Trial Urban District Assessment reports results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) for fourth- and eighth-graders in 18 large urban school districts.
Hager Sharp Helps HHS Office on Women’s Health Promote National Women’s Health Week
Mother’s Day (May 9) kicked off National Women’s Health Week, a weeklong health observance to educate women about steps they can take to improve their health and reduce their risk for many diseases. With the theme “It’s Your Time,” the nationwide initiative is also aimed at empowering women to make their health a top priority. National Women’s Health Week is coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health, with the help of Hager Sharp. This year, nearly 2,000 events will take place across the country—in hospitals, churches, community centers, and even online. Events range from free screenings and health fairs, to fashion shows and 5K walks.
Hager Sharp Helps President’s Cancer Panel Garner National Media Coverage of Report on Reducing Environmental Cancer Risk
May 6, 2010 – Even with the growing body of evidence linking environmental exposures to cancer in recent years, a report released by the President’s Cancer Panel finds that the true burden of environmentally-induced cancer is greatly underestimated. The Panel’s report, “Reducing Environmental Cancer Risk: What We Can Do Now,” concludes that while environmental exposure is not a new front on the war on cancer, the grievous harm from this group of carcinogens has not been addressed adequately by the National Cancer Program.
