Education Communications Pro Alan Richard joins Hager Sharp
Alan Richard, who won awards for his reporting at Education Week, and most recently was the communications director for the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), has joined Hager Sharp as senior account supervisor for education clients.
He is highly regarded nationally for successful strategic communications work, public relations and project management that helps broaden educational opportunities for all students.
At SREB, he helped to boost substantially the visibility of SREB’s publications and research. He worked closely with many leading national education policy experts, state and local officials and educators.

At Education Week, he twice was awarded first prize in the National Awards for Education Reporting. He developed an expertise in rural education, and serves on the boards of the Rural School and Community Trust and the Foxfire Fund, a cultural and educational project. He has written for The Nation and regularly presents at education, journalism and civil rights conferences. His forthcoming book is Summerton’s Children: Segregation in the Town Where Brown v. Board of Education Began.
