Hager Sharp Helps HHS Office on Women’s Health Promote National Women’s Health Week

Mother’s Day (May 9) kicked off National Women’s Health Week, a weeklong health observance to educate women about steps they can take to improve their health and reduce their risk for many diseases. With the theme “It’s Your Time,” the nationwide initiative is also aimed at empowering women to make their health a top priority. National Women’s Health Week is coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health, with the help of Hager Sharp. This year, nearly 2,000 events will take place across the country—in hospitals, churches, community centers, and even online. Events range from free screenings and health fairs, to fashion shows and 5K walks.

To celebrate National Women’s Health Week, Hager Sharp secured partnerships with General Electric’s Healthymagination, Meredith Corporation, Curves, Intuitive Surgical, the Better Hearing Institute, the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association, and many other organizations.  Media outreach efforts have generated coverage in newspapers and magazines and on broadcast and online outlets across the country, including NBC's Today Show, Woman’s Day, Family Circle, Fitness, Fox News Radio, About.com, and many state Associated Press wires.

Since 2003, Hager Sharp has provided communications support to the Office on Women’s Health, across a variety of programs and initiatives, including BodyWorks, Best Bones Forever!, National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and Quick Health Data Online.  Our work ranges from media relations, partnership development, and materials development, to program management and strategic communications planning.
