Hager Sharp Launches Best Bones Forever! for HHS' Office on Women's Health
On September 1, 2009, Hager Sharp kicked off Best Bones Forever!, the new national bone health campaign of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office on Women's Health (OWH).
Held at a middle school in North Las Vegas, Nevada, the event engaged students, school district representatives, HHS and Las Vegas officials and others for a high energy, fun event. Featuring a video message to the school from HHS Secretary Sebelius and a three-legged race, as well as a warm-up led by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas women's softball team, the event drew excitement both locally and nationally and attracted significant media attention.
Also launched on September 1 was the campaign's community pilot program, which brings bone health behavior change programs to three communities: North Las Vegas, NV; Pinal County, AZ; and Ulster County, NY.
Best Bones Forever! encourages girls ages 9-14 and their parents to get the recommended amounts of calcium, vitamin D and physical activity—the building blocks for strong bones. The campaign embraces the theme of friendship, encouraging girls and their BFFs (Best Friends Forever) to "grow strong together, stay strong forever."
