Hager Sharp Staff Help Local Youth with Social Marketing Campaign

Hager Sharp Staff and Community Advocates of the Prevention Center at the Latin American Youth Center

On July 13, Siobhan Mueller, Angela Carlson Mills, and John Bobosh met with the Community Advocates of the Prevention Center at the Latin American Youth Center, which is located in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washington, DC. The Advocates were charged with addressing a social problem that affects youth their age. They chose to work on the problem of excessive drinking and to create a social marketing campaign to help address the issue. In addition to sharing client campaigns, Hager Sharp staff reviewed the students' initial ideas and explained some of the basic principles and components of social marketing campaigns. They also helped the students think through things such as research, target audiences, promotional ideas, and evaluation. The students then worked on their own to develop the campaign, Really Though?, and an August 6 launch party of the campaign is planned in Columbia Heights.
