Hager Sharp Supports President's Cancer Panel Forum on Demographics and Cancer
December 9, 2009 - The President’s Cancer Panel convened an open forum in Wilmington, Delaware to discuss how the US cancer enterprise may be affected by increasingly diverse populations that may have different attitudes, cultural perspectives, and biological responses to treatment.
This was the third of four meetings in the national series, “America’s Demographic and Cultural Transformation: Implications for the Cancer Enterprise.” WDEL-AM covered the meeting, interviewing Panel member Dr. Margaret Kripke and also producing a video story for their website.
Since 2000, Hager Sharp has provided communications and media relations support to the President’s Cancer Panel, a three-member advisory board appointed by the President of the United States with the mission to monitor and report on the development and execution of the National Cancer Program. Following meetings with experts around the country, the Panel delivers an annual report of findings and recommendations to the President, as well as Congressional leaders and the directors of the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute. Throughout the year, the Panel also presents its report at conferences addressing cancer, public health issues, and public health policy.
The fourth and final forum in this series will take place in Miami, Florida on February 2, 2010.
