Hager Sharp Supports the Release of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s 2010 KIDS COUNT Data Book on Child Well-Being
On July 27, 2010, Hager Sharp helped the Annie E. Casey Foundation release the 2010 KIDS COUNT Data Book, the Foundation’s 21st edition, which compares state-by-state data and trends on child well-being. The Data Book examines 10 key indicators such as the infant mortality rate, teen death rate, percent of teens not in school and not high school graduates, the child poverty rate, the percent of babies born low-birthweight, and more.
For much of the last decade, Hager Sharp has supported the Annie E. Casey Foundation with its annual release of the KIDS COUNT Data Book. From developing and implementing a strategic national and state communications plan to working closely with state grantees to strengthen outreach and ensure they had communications support and materials, Hager Sharp was there every step of the way. The firm also worked closely with the Casey staff to develop and implement a KIDS COUNT social media strategy via Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites to highlight the 2010 release and the most up-to-date data found in the Data Book and its accompanying KIDS COUNT Data Center.
Media outreach included coverage on MSNBC.com, USA Today, the Boston Globe and hundreds of other print, broadcast, and online media outlets. Hager Sharp worked with News Generation to coordinate a 23-interview Radio Media Tour (RMT) and an Audio Bite Line (ABL) with over 50 national and state sound bites; some of which were recorded in Spanish. The RMT and ABL reached more than 55 million listeners through state and local outlets, as well as national outlets, such as Associated Press Broadcast, Metro Source, American Urban Radio Network, Univision, and CNN en Español Radio.
